The Joy of Folding Laundry

We all have our own feelings about things like dishes, vacuuming, dusting, and laundry (folding/putting away). I'm not going to get into all of that right now. I wanted to share one reason why I like to fold laundry with the hope that it would be an encouragement to you and perhaps spur you on to love and good deeds. :)

Years ago I came across this bookmark published by Navigators that shared 31 Biblical Virtues to Pray for Your Kids.  I also happened to find a blog post on praying for your children that had this prayer calendar from Inspired to Action. The calendar was adapted with permission from Bob Hostetler, the man who wrote the bookmark. So, after a while of realizing that I needed to figure out a way that I could actually USE this calendar instead of just keeping it nicely folded in my Bible, I decided to type it up large enough so that I could read it while it was hanging on the wall. I made it pretty to look at and taped it on the basement walls and washer which aren't always pretty to look at. Then as I pull clothes out of the dryer to fold I pick a prayer and begin praying it for each person (whoever "owns" the item I am folding...even myself). :) Anyway, I don't always have time to enjoy folding laundry, but making laundry folding time a time of more concentrated and intentional prayer has been no less than a delight. So click through on the links above and get your own calendars and start praying! Here are some photos to inspire you. :)

And this is who I'm praying for:

Foto Friday

It's Foto Friday again! This week's challenge was hands. As you are probably beginning to expect with me, I couldn't decide which picture to post, so I put my favorites. :)

I love these hands! Especially when they're firmly holding onto the truths in the Bible.

The next best treat for hands to hold: Baby feet.  :)

Next week's challenge is: edible. Hmmm...

Foto Friday

Will you be my Valentine? Well, this little girl ADORES her Daddy...so do I! I'm not going to write and tell everyone how he spent all of Valentine's Day taking care of his sick wife and four children, or how he took three of the kids and did all the grocery shopping, or how he did the laundry, made me a delicious bowl of Ramen noodles (the only kind of chicken noodle soup that he knows how to make), drove me to the doctor, got my medicine, fed and cared for us the whole day and following days until I was well, took the day off work just to help and take care of me...I'm not going to tell everyone that because I might embarrass him. He gives up so much for us and in my opinion he puts many to shame by the way he gives up his life for his bride, except for the Lord Jesus who is our greatest example.
Thank you Tyson! I love you so much!

Next week's challenge is hands...hmm...I might have a good one for that!

Multitude Monday

my growing gratitude list:

The weight of sleepy bodies both large and small

teeny tiny knitting needles and the hope of knitting socks

homemade bread

toboggans, filled with family fun

Grandpas to climb on and photos snapped by children

little girl dreams of preparing to a be a flower girl, bridal dresses and pretty shoes, preparing for a wedding, a doorway to walk through to begin a new chapter of  life, the rest of your new life together

childhood memories reborn and created anew

new stages

 pink sunglasses

 sweet faces

silly faces
children who miss each other when they're apart
quiet moments to snuggle and read together
growing hunger for God's Word
fresh snow
icicles
warm winter boots
abounding grace
lavished grace
undeserved mercy
smiles
noisy children
the unending song of God's Love for me

Foto Friday

This week's Foto Friday challenge was "Rainbow". I tried several "rainbow" shots, but wasn't happy with any of them. Finally, I remembered that Selah had this shirt that had many rainbow colors. I guess it could have qualified for last week's stripes challenge too, but I didn't think of it then. This shirt is one that all of our girls have gotten to wear. That's pretty neat I think when the clothes make it that far and still look so cute. :) This was a fun little photo shoot to do with Selah. She is such a sweetie! She did get tired of her picture being taken by the end...especially because she couldn't get a hold of the camera I was dangling in front of her. :) I tried to get a good picture of a mad face, but that
didn't work either. :) Someday I'll get one so that I have proof for others that she does cry.

Foto Friday

This weeks Favorite Foto Friday Challenge was stripes. As I was going, I wasn't sure if I was really getting any good ones. Now that I'm done, I can't decide which one I like the best. Probably this first one of Jude, but I had to post all of them for you to see. :) Gotta love these little blessings from the Lord. Truly a gift.  Now that we're on the subject of stripes, it's funny how they're all around us...I can't help but think of Isaiah 53:5 which says, "with His stripes we are healed", our sin marked His body, then by grace, He leaves His mark on us to cleanse us, to remove all other marks of sin. Then, from a different angle, our lives are changed by the mark our children make on us, and as for us mothers, our bodies are literally changed forever, altered by the stripes covering our bellies that stretched to bear these children. Not going to share and photos of those today, so don't worry. :)
